Since my second child arrived, I’ve been grappling with annoying acne and the sudden appearance of wrinkles. To add to that, my husband casually remarked about me aging faster than fine wine. Not exactly the confidence boost I needed, right?

Rather than dwelling on frustration, I decided to address my skin issues without relying on pills. That’s when I stumbled upon the Dermalactives LED Mask, a fascinating discovery in my quest for better skin.

A bit of research into LED Light technology revealed that it’s no mere gimmick – even NASA uses it, and there’s solid science supporting its ability to enhance skin conditions.

Intrigued, I decided to give the Dermalactives LED Mask a shot after reading some fantastic reviews. This time, my husband generously covered the cost, so I figured, why not?

In this review, I’ll share my personal experience with the Dermalactives LED Mask.

What is the Dermalactives LED Mask?

The Dermalactives LED Mask is a convenient, cordless, and hands-free facial mask that uses LED lights. It includes 7 different light colors: red, blue, purple, green, yellow, cyan, and white. This mask has 192 High-Density LEDs to ensure complete coverage.

According to reviews, the Dermalactives LED Mask is claimed to provide various benefits. These benefits include healing and preventing acne, reducing signs of aging like wrinkles, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation, firming sagging skin, and giving your skin a healthy glow.

To determine if it lives up to these claims, let’s investigate its effectiveness.

The Science Behind Dermalactives LED Mask

The Dermalactives LED Mask, along with other LED masks, uses different types of light to address various skin concerns. LED stands for light-emitting diode, and it was originally developed for NASA’s experiments involving plant growth in space.

Unlike lasers, LED technology operates with lower energy levels to bring about changes in the skin. Research has shown that LED light therapy can significantly enhance the skin’s natural healing process and is beneficial for a range of medical and cosmetic dermatological conditions.

Dr. Pooja Sodha, director of the Center for Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology at The GW Medical Faculty Associates in Washington, D.C., notes that LED therapy is FDA-approved for conditions such as recurrent facial herpes simplex (cold sores) and herpes zoster (shingles).

While at-home masks like the Dermalactives LED Mask may not be as potent as those used in dermatologist offices, they remain popular due to their convenience, privacy, and affordability, as mentioned by the American Academy of Dermatology. These masks can emit blue light to address acne, red light for anti-aging purposes, or a combination of both.

Does Dermalactives LED Mask Really Work?

Yes, the Dermalactives LED Mask does indeed work and is likely effective for many users.

According to Dr. Joshua Zeichner, a board-certified dermatologist in New York City, LED facial masks provide skin benefits.

“Most masks used to treat aging skin give off red light, which is thought to have anti-inflammatory effects and encourage production of new collagen. Blue light is thought to have antimicrobial effects and is often used with red light to treat acne.”

A 12-week study, as reported in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, found that blue and red light therapy effectively improved mild to moderate acne.

What Does an Dermalactives LED Mask Do to Your Skin?

The Dermalactives LED Mask offers 7 different light colors, each designed for specific skin concerns.

  • Red light improves circulation and stimulates collagen production, reducing lines and wrinkles. Research in the American Journal of Pathology suggests that a lack of collagen, common in aging and sun-damaged skin, can lead to fine lines and wrinkles.

  • Blue light targets acne-causing bacteria, disrupting the cycle of breakouts. A study in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology in June 2017 supports its effectiveness. Besides red and blue, some masks also include colors like yellow (for redness reduction) and green (to address pigmentation issues).

Side Effects and Danger

In general, the Dermalactives LED Mask is considered safe, as it has received FDA clearance, highlighting its safety.

It’s crucial to differentiate between LED and ultraviolet (UV) light. LED light doesn’t pose the same DNA-harming risks as UV light.

However, when using the Dermalactives LED Mask, it’s important to protect your eyes. People with certain eye conditions may have a “theoretical risk of eye injury.” Some users have reported visual effects when using the mask with their eyes open.

Although the Dermalactives LED Mask has eye openings to prevent direct light exposure, some short-wavelength visible light might still reach your eyes when used up close. Therefore, it’s highly recommended to use eye protection during any light therapy treatment. To ensure your safety, I suggest keeping your eyes closed while wearing the Dermalactives LED Mask.

Is Dermalactives LED Mask Safe To Use?

Yes, it’s generally safe for most people. However, if you have a history of skin cancer, systemic lupus erythematosus, or conditions that affect the retina (like diabetes or congenital retinal disorders), it’s best to avoid using this LED mask.

The same goes for individuals using photosensitizing medications such as lithium, certain antipsychotics, or specific antibiotics.

If you have skin with more pigmentation, it’s wise to be a bit more cautious, as these LED devices can occasionally cause changes in skin color.

How to Use the Dermalactives LED Mask

I bought Dermalactives LED Mask

Using the Dermalactives LED Mask has become an essential part of my skincare routine, and I’m thrilled to share my personal experience with you.

Step 1: Preparing My Skin

Before using the Dermalactives LED Mask, I always start with a clean slate. I make sure to cleanse my face thoroughly, removing any makeup, dirt, or impurities. Then, I apply my favorite skincare serums, moisturizers, and toners. This step is crucial because it prepares my skin to absorb all the fantastic benefits of LED light therapy.

Step 2: Positioning the Mask

Once my skin is prepped and ready, I gently position the Dermalactives LED Mask over my face. It’s designed to be comfortable and fits snugly. I ensure that it covers my entire face evenly to maximize the effectiveness of the LED lights.

Step 3: Powering On

With the mask in place, I’m ready to power it on. I press and hold the power button on the mask for about three seconds. As it lights up, I know I’m about to embark on a relaxing and rejuvenating skincare journey.

Step 4: Choosing the LED Light Color

One of the coolest features of the Dermalactives LED Mask is its ability to offer different LED light colors, each targeting specific skincare concerns. To select my desired color, I simply press the power button again. Depending on my skin’s needs, I can choose from red, blue, or green light.

Step 5: Treatment Duration

I usually leave the mask on for around 10 minutes during each session. This duration is recommended for optimal results. To maintain consistency, I aim for 4-6 sessions per week. It’s become a calming ritual that I genuinely look forward to.

Step 6: Powering Down

When my treatment is complete, I press and hold the power button once more. I watch as the soothing LED lights gradually fade away, knowing that my skin has just received a fantastic boost.

Step 7: Post-Treatment Care

After I’ve enjoyed my LED therapy session, I take a moment to clean the mask gently. I use a soft cloth or a cleansing wipe to wipe away any residue. Then, I store it in a cool, dry place to ensure it stays in perfect condition for my next session.

Dermalactives LED Mask Results – Before and After

I’m 34 years old with light yellow skin. I followed the user manual and used the mask for 3 months. Here’s what I’ve noticed:

  1. Forehead Lines: There’s been a noticeable reduction in the depth of my forehead lines, which is quite promising.

  2. Skin Tone: My skin tone has become somewhat more even. Despite having significant melasma, I’ve seen a slight improvement, which is encouraging.

  3. Acne: I’ve seen a notable improvement in some of my acne.

When using the Dermalactives LED Mask, I mainly used the red light feature. However, I want to mention that the blue light feature has been useful when I sense a breakout or have active blemishes. Occasionally, I choose the combination setting, which uses both red and blue lights.

Since most of the researched benefits are associated with red light, and my primary goal is to soften lines, I mostly focus on that feature.

Before and After

How Often Do You Have To Use It?

For the best results with my Dermalactives LED Mask, I’ve found that using it more frequently yields better outcomes.

I personally use it three times a week, and each session lasts for 15 minutes.

Incorporating it into my skincare routine is straightforward. I usually take a shower first, and before applying any skincare products, I lie down, close my eyes, and start listening to a podcast while benefiting from the soothing red light of the Dermalactives LED Mask.

What I Don’t Like

  • Results can vary among individuals with different skin colors and health conditions.

Is Dermalactives LED Mask Legit?

Yes, the Dermalactives LED Mask is legitimate and not a scam. It has received FDA clearance, making it safe for various skin types. In my personal experience, I’ve seen improvements in fine lines and wrinkles around my eyes after using it consistently for 3 months.

Moreover, scientific evidence supports the effectiveness of LED light in stimulating collagen production and combating acne-causing bacteria.

However, it’s advisable to start with lower intensity settings, especially if you have sensitive skin, and gradually increase as your skin gets used to the treatment.

Remember, it’s not a standalone solution; maintaining healthy habits is crucial for achieving radiant skin.

I was thrilled when this Dermalactives LED Mask arrived in my mailbox. I’ve never used anything like it before and couldn’t wait to try it out! It came with a user manual that explains the benefits of the 7 different colors. I used the light purple to help with age spots and fine lines. It’s very lightweight and comfortable to wear. After applying it, I just relaxed for 15 minutes and let it work its magic. I love the non-invasive and painless skincare it offers, and it’s also used by dermatologists. I’m a happy camper!

Amazing Light Therapy for Face!

Rated 4.0 out of 5
January 10, 2024

This Dermalactives LED Mask is incredible for light therapy! I love its design and how easy it is to use. You can simply put it on your face and relax while watching TV or using your cellphone without any hassle. It even comes with compressed masks that turn into a mask when you add water – how cool is that? There’s also a face massager included, which I use after using the light therapy mask with my favorite serum. My skin feels amazing and relaxed afterward; it’s the perfect combo. I do feel a little bit of heat, but it’s just the right amount, and I can see a bit of difference in my skin. Everything you need comes with it, and the mask is rechargeable, so the charger cable is included. The value is excellent, and it’s definitely worth it!

Not sure how well it works

I’ve been using the Dermalactives LED Mask a few times a week for about two months. I’m not seeing any difference in my skin yet that I can visualize. I do like that I can still see using it and the sunglasses-like feel on the nose to hold it up. It was a reasonable price; hopefully, I’ll see results soon.

Worth Buying

January 4, 2024

I’ve used the Dermalactives LED Mask for over a week, and so far, it’s been a pleasant experience. It’s lightweight, very easy to use, and the timer comes in handy. I especially love the gentle warmth it provides on my face. Although I’m unsure if it’s good for the eyes when it is on, so I err on the side of caution and close my eyes while using it. While I haven’t seen significant results on my skin just yet, I believe it’s a worthwhile purchase for the price and for what it should do on the skin.

Lightweight, handsfree, fits perfectly with my glasses on

December 28, 2023

Finally gave in and bought the Dermalactives LED Mask. So cool and actually works. I got it for my breakouts on my chin and also for my wrinkles and fine lines, but I see an overall difference in my skin, even my pores look better. This LED face mask light therapy has 7 colors LED light of red, blue, orange, green, purple, light purple, and cyan; it improves the skin. I like that it is lightweight and fits perfectly with my glasses on. Fine lines and wrinkles have reduced by wearing 15-30 minutes a day, 3 times a week! It’s really worth the price! Cheaper than other brands and it’s handsfree, which is important to me. I have such sensitive skin, but this mask really helped brighten it up without harsh creams. I always break out with creams because of how sensitive I am, so this was life-changing. Very happy with my purchase.

A nice little treat

I own one of those heavier LED masks with a neck attachment, but it’s quite a production to use. You have to lie still, and I don’t use it as often as I should. This Dermalactives LED Mask is different because it’s lightweight with no unnecessary bells and whistles. You can even wear it while doing chores around your apartment. The downside is that it doesn’t feel very sturdy, but because it’s so easy to use, I end up using it more often, which is key to seeing results. I bought one for my best friend who’s been getting into skincare. It’s cute!

Seems like it has an effect on pores

Rated 4.0 out of 5
December 23, 2023

I’ve used this Dermalactives LED Mask at least five times before reviewing. I haven’t seen any drastic changes in my skin, but it did seem like my pores were smaller. I enjoy the feeling of the light; it emits a gentle warmth. I prefer to use it in a dark room after cleaning my face and applying serum or moisturizer. The box didn’t provide much explanation about the included face masks, so I’m not sure if they have product infused in them or if you should wet them and use your serum. It also didn’t specify whether you should wear the masks while the light is on your face. So far, the light has lasted about three uses before needing a recharge. I appreciate the built-in timer; it auto shuts off after 15 minutes. You can do other things while wearing it, but looking through the plastic can strain my eyes, so I prefer to relax in a dark room while using it.

The Dermalactives LED Mask is great! I love how easy it is to use. I can easily get other things done while using this mask; however, I believe using it in a completely dark room is the key to making it work well.

Skin care at its most fun

December 14, 2023

I’m loving the Dermalactives LED Mask! I use it for just 10 minutes daily, and it has 7 different colors. You can genuinely feel the difference in them. I believe my skin is starting to tighten up, and the best part is, it’s easy and fun to use. Sometimes, I even hum the imperial march when I wear it! It comes in a sturdy box with clear instructions and a charging cable. The mask has enough charge to use it right away, and the charge lasts quite a while. What’s great is that the mask fits comfortably over glasses if you want to multitask while wearing it, but it’s also incredibly relaxing to just wear with your eyes closed. Highly recommended!!
